Our inquiry question for this term is "What does
the government do for me?" We will be looking at the three levels of
government in Australia, what government in Australia does, how it
operates and how laws are made. As
well as looking at what the government does for us, we will also be
looking at our responsibilities as citizens of Australia.
We will be going on an excursion to the
Electoral Education Centre and
Melbourne Museum. We need a number of
parents to attend this excursion so please let your child's teacher
know if you can help out.
Interschool sport has already started. The
games are played in the afternoon, beginning at 1:15 p.m. The
children have already brought notes home with all of the details.
Grade 6 transition forms are due back this
term. Keep an eye on the school newsletter for further information,
as well as the transition noticeboard.
This term we are working on problem solving
in Maths with a focus on the strategy of using tree diagrams. We
will also be measuring length, perimeter and area.
Late in the term there will be a note going
home about the 5/6 camp, which will be
Derby Hill
in Maldon. You
will be asked to indicate if your child will be attending and to pay
a deposit of $20.
We have purchased a number of books to
assist us learn about our topic. If any parents can help out with
