Grades Prep, One, Two

The focuses of the visual arts program for term two are: construction and drawing.  Students have learnt different joining methods and have joined a variety of materials to create a creature.  Some creatures are animals which may be kept as pets; others are unusual creatures from the children’s imaginations.  Students will consider some of the common shapes involved in drawing animals and will use a variety of materials including: watercolour pencils, charcoal and pastels to create an animal portrait.

 Grades 3 and 4

The focuses of the visual arts program for term two are: printing and collage.  Students have sketched a plant arrangement and made a positive and negative pastel contact print of this.  Students have learnt about stencil printing and have created a series of three stencils.  They will apply paint to these stencils to create a series of prints.  Students will consider materials, shape and texture as they create a collage of Australia.

 Grades 5 and 6

The focuses of the visual arts program for term two are: printing and collage.  Students have made positive and negative pastel prints of plant pictures found in magazines.  They have collected items from nature and explored the marks and prints that can be made with these.  Students are currently creating space collages.  They are learning about our Solar System and considering materials, shape and texture as they create their collages.
